The session discusses important concepts of Refraction of Light. The prism has probably split the incident white light into a band of colours. The sequence of colours seen is Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. The acronym VIBGYOR will help to remember the sequence. The band of the coloured components of a Glass prism light beam is called its spectrum. The splitting of light into its component colours is called dispersion.

The above phenomenon is involved in the formation of rainbows in the sky.
